The plot: The story of the bandit Renato Vallanzasca including robberies, murders, prison escapes.
After Crime Novel (Which was taken a hit television series) Michele Placido is engaged with another page of Italian crime, that of the band led by Renato Comasina Vallanzasca who worked in Milan for 70 years. Perhaps after having been for years a symbol of courage and law, interpreting the Commissioner Cattani of the hit TV series La Piovra, the actor-director feels fascinated by history and psychology of who is on the side of evil.
This film has been harshly criticized by victims' families because it seems to exalt the figure of the "Little Rascals" Vallanzasca offending the memory of those killed in the bloody svorrerie band. Although Placido had expressed the intention to look coldness and detachment to the figure of the protagonist, in fact, the Vallanzasca the film, beautifully played by Kim Rossi Stuart, however, seems surrounded by an aura of mythical cursed and fascinating character.
Describes his misdeeds as a child, with his small band in tow, which cost him the juvenile prison, then turned the rivalry into friendship with Francis Turatello, robbery, years of hard labor, avoidance, clashes often caused by the fire which surrounded himself with thugs, and above all the restlessness, the inability to stop, look for a nice normal life of Rene, adored by women, charming bully.
A fim-document still speaks of an era too far our day to instill in viewers a certain desire to emulate as we feared.
The bitter story of a lost soul without a reason, that can inspire more than a little sympathy for the protagonist, but not approval or myth.
