"The world is a dark place" this was the comment by Karl Lagerfeld at the end of his latest Chanel fashion show, set in a forest of ash in some forgotten corner of the earth. Surely some inspiration comes from the German painters Anselm Kiefer and Caspar David Friedrich and their apocalyptic vision of the world.
The collection was anything but what we would normally expect from Chanel. The lines were in fact more soft and relaxed and the model through the catwalk in shoes and men's suits.
